NURTURING CHILDREN THROUGH WORSHIP & PRAYER

Grace Presbytery

Renewed Grace: Transforming Worship Practices with Neurodivergent Children

PROJECT:

Jennifer Bluestein

CONTACT:
LOCATION:

Irving, TX, USA

Through three cohort experiences, teams from 30 congregations will work together to design and implement up to three contextualized practices to test in their worship settings. They will learn from materials generated from focus groups with neurodivergent children and their parents, engage with experts in disability and theology through a seminar, and worship with and learn from an exemplary Disciples of Christ congregation. Throughout the life of the project, congregational teams will have multiple reflective listening sessions with parents and project staff to ensure the changes effectively promote the inclusion of neurodiverse children in worship. Practical tools will be developed to enable other congregations in the PCUSA and beyond to engage in the work of transforming their worship practices with neurodivergent children.
