Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

CGSUSA will strengthen and cultivate Formation Leaders responsible for catechist formation for adults. CGSUSA will organize cohorts of catechist applicants to undergo a two-year discernment process guided by mentors, host five in-person Formation Leader Discernment Seminars alternating formation levels and conduct two Mentor Seminars for 50 experienced formation leaders to guide catechist applicants and new leaders. The initiative will expand the formation leader mentorship program to formally prepare mentors through seminars, remove financial barriers to travel, and ensure access to mentor-led courses. It will also develop Spanish-speaking and bilingual formation leaders by matching catechists with Spanish-speaking mentors, hosting annual Spanish-language Zoom sessions, and culminating in a bilingual seminar in the fifth year to equip leaders and catechists for broader impact. CGSUA plans to support and prepare 200 new formation leaders throughout the five years.
